TAV - If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

TAV - What is one goal you would like to achieve that you haven’t yet?
RP - I would love to have a million-dollar contract to get my music to the world.

Next on The Artistic Voice, we have electronic-synth, pop duo PIERA, consisting of singer, songwriter, producer Piera Klein, and songwriter and producer Micah Plissner. Their space jazz, psychedelic, cosmic vibe infuses melodies together, creating a sound of their own. They recently shared the stage with new wave bands Berlin and Bow Wow Wow and will soon perform with Oingo Boingo and Flock of Seagulls. Hear about their journey and current projects on the next episode of The Artistic Voice.
Learn More about PIERA below:
TAV - What do you love most about the creative process?
Piera - One of my absolute favorite feelings on earth is the feeling of living in “the flow” – for me, this is the world or realm where all creativity thrives. The energetic pull, the curiosity that drives, the force that thrusts you into the rabbit hole of your existence – demanding your full attention and stopping at nothing until it’s satisfied. It’s a timeless space where energies recharge while they are simultaneously spent. While in this state, we inject our spirit (or soul) into our works until we feel the permission to let go, and we ourselves are transformed in the process. In a way, we are recreating the world over and over until we reach a form of ecstasy, and then the cycle repeats on a new quest – to find the next incarnation or iteration of our revelations.
Micah - Discovering new and exciting sounds that I’ve never heard before and working them into the arrangements of a song.
TAV - Aside from music, what are you most passionate about?
Piera - Aside from music, I’m excited and attracted to big ideas about how we can transform ourselves and our world into becoming a more healed place for all living creates -- for humanity, animals, and nature. For a long time, humans have neglected to take care of the things that matter most in pursuit of the things that matter less.
Micah - Aside from music, I love discovering beautiful places in nature.
TAV - What do you know for sure about yourself?
Piera - I care, and therefore I take action.
Micah - That I’ll find a solution to a problem if there is one to find.
TAV - How do you recharge?
Piera - I listen to my body when it tells me to rest, and I take my relaxation time seriously. When in need, I love pampering myself, baths, massage, sleep, reading a good book, etc. -- and spending time deep in nature is my greatest escape from the grind. I also love my animals and the very special people in my life – they provide me with a tremendous sense of love, peace, and joy.
Micah - It usually involves a USB cable.
TAV - What business advice would you give to a fellow artist starting out?
Piera - Every artist’s journey is unique, but I would suggest to find your tribe as soon as possible and learn as much as you can from one another. Learning from the collective experiences of successful others is one way to fast-track your personal growth.
Micah - Make sure you have a revenue stream while you’re pursuing your original material.
TAV - Who is the most influential person in your life?
Piera - It depends. I’ve had many teachers, mentors, and friends that have inspired me over the years in different areas and in different seasons of life – it’s difficult to name just one. I’m super grateful for every person that has touched my soul or illuminated my path in one way or another.
Micah - Although he’s now passed, I would have said, my father.
TAV - What are some hard lessons you’ve learned on your journey?
Piera - It’s not always easy to find your tribe, and when you are pioneering anything, it can be a lonely road until you reach a certain earmark of success. Then it seems like everyone wants to be a part of what you’re doing. It’s a dramatic shift.
Micah - Not being aware enough of other people’s feelings as it can lead to conflicts that can catch you off-guard.
TAV - What’s the one thing you say to yourself each morning that inspires you?
Piera - I’m thankful for all the good in my sphere.
Micah - Life is a gift.
TAV - If you could choose anyone in history to have a one-on-one conversation with, who would it be?
Piera - Oprah.
Micah - Martin Luther King
TAV - What are you most grateful for?
Piera - My health, my creative abilities, and the wonderful people in my life.
Micah - Same.
